Dr. Woodson helps professional caregivers, social service professionals, community leaders and their trainees:
- Overcome our own feelings of fear, failure and inadequacy which force us to avoid our supportive role and abandon patients.
- Create a supportive, permissive environment in which clients and families can discuss difficult topics.
- Develop confidence with specific, compassionate language to present information on disability, loss of independence, poor outcomes and end-of-life decisions.
- Manage negative responses from family and other professionals.
